Pedestrian struck, killed along I-44 overnight

(KTVI)- A pedestrian was killed early Sunday morning while trying to cross Interstate 44. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, a woman was hit by an SUV in the eastbound lanes of I-44 near the Meramec River bridge around 1:00am. She was then struck by two other cars on the interstate.

The pedestrian, identified as Mona L. Moynihan, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities arrested the man driving the SUV on suspicion of DWI.

The eastbound lanes of I-44 were closed for about five hours between Bowles and I-270, but have since reopened.
