ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - As the Delta Charter 777 made its final turn, the dark rainy skies painted the picture of the feelings of the Cardinals. As they exited the plane the expression on  their faces told the story. Matt Holiday holding the hand of his daughter managed a wave to a crowd of airport employees welcoming them home. David Freese showed an appreciative wave as well.  They feel bad they let down Cardinal nation.

DeWitt says the flight home was spent thinking about what they've done as a team.  But Cardinal management gave credit to the Red Sox for playing a great series.

The Cardinals felt both teams were evenly matched  going into the series, both had good pitching, but it was the Red Sox who came up with the big hits

The Cards ell to the Boston Red Sox in the World Series after losing 6-1 in Game 6.
