(KTVI)-Last Sunday’s St. Louis Post-Dispatch published the result of a month long investigation by reporters Robert Patrick and Jennifer Mann showing that St. Louis city police and courts often arrest and jail the wrong people because of mistaken identity. They documented dozens of cases where people were wrongfully jailed and where things as elementary as matching fingerprints were ignored.

Mayor Slay’s administration and Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce reacted with anger. They called the lengthy story a hatchet job based on shoddy research.
