(KTVI) - About a year ago, we learned of a horrific case of animal abuse. A dog named "Trooper" had been dragged behind a truck. It's been a year of medical care and loveand Trooper is looking great and ready for a new home.

Kathy Warnick, president of the Humane Society of Missouri, talks about finding Trooper a new family.

Applicants must answer lifestyle questions and provide information about their home environment. Trooper is best suited to a home without other animals and with older children.  Trooper`s adoption fee is $210. Click here for details and to start an application.

His new family should live approximately 30 miles from the Humane Society of Missouri`s facility on Macklind so that he can continue to be treated by HSMO vets.

The Humane Society of Missouri will cover ongoing vet fees for Trooper at its Animal Medical Center of Mid-America.
