(KTVI) – An artist has created a picture of what East St. Louis may look like in the year 2043; it isn’t pretty. The image depicts the town as a slum of dilapidated buildings covered in filth and surrounded by mud. The image was posted to twitter by an account calling itself, “The Future.” The image of East St. Louis posted to twitter has been re-tweeted over 500 times.

Other images posted by the account show projections of a sleek, sparkling modern future in places like Chicago, Paris and even the Grad Canyon. East St. Louis and Detroit seem to be the exceptions.
