Water main break causing traffic delays on Hampton near I-44

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- Road crews were busy all Friday morning long to repair a water main break in west St. Louis. This is on Hampton near Interstate 44. The southbound lanes are closed. Traffic is being diverted to the northbound lanes.

A release from MoDOT explains the extent of the damage, "A broken water main near Polo Drive has damaged a 15’ by 15’ section of pavement, and closed both southbound lanes of Hanley for approximately 100 feet. Southbound motorists will be diverted to a single lane – the center turn lane.  More than 25,000 vehicles drive this part of Hanley on an average weekday."

Crews are expected to be working on the water main break till Saturday.
