OVERLAND, MO (KTVI)-- The Filipino American Association gathered at Midland Wok restaurant in Overland Monday to meet with executives from other community organizations.

They are trying to figure out how to help those in need in the Philippines after a deadly typhoon hit the island country.

Entire villages were devastated. Filipinos in the St. Louis area are having a hard time reaching their loved ones.

Carol Swiecicki has been checking survivor websites online hoping to learn the fate of her loved ones. "It's been really difficult. I think the hardest part is we have no way of knowing,"she said.

Swiecicki is hoping and praying her family members are okay.
