WENTZVILLE, MO. (KTVI) - There was a warning from Wentzville Police Monday about a disturbing crime with the holiday shopping season kicking in.
A woman in a pink hoodie robbed a Walmart shopper robbed at gunpoint around 3:00 on Sunday afternoon, November 17th.
No one was hurt.
Still, police feared that pink hoodie could make for easy prey with few shoppers associating it with a possible threat or cause for alarm.
I mean I could have passed her easily in the store and would not have put 2 and 2 together,” said shopper Dawn Dains, who said she was in the Walmart store off of Wentzville Parkway at the same time as the suspect.
“I have never seen a robber in a pink hoodie…whenever you have a female robber it stands out,” said Major Paul West of the Wentzville Police Department.
He said surveillance video showed the suspect going into the store, then leaving just a few minutes later. It showed her first approaching one shopper in the parking lot – hesitating – then walking a couple of rows over and demanding another shopper’s money.
The victim at first refused. The suspect in the pink hoodie pulled a fire arm. The victim gave her amount of cash that she had on her person,” Maj. West said.
“Look at tonight, I’m stopping and running into a store. I’m by myself. It’s nothing for me to stop. I feel safe. It’s Wentzville,” Dains said.
Though investigators have yet to link this to any other cases they fear this may not be the suspect’s first time – and won’t be her last.
“It’s something people don’t just jump into. There’s other things that led up to this,” Maj. West said.
Police also released a surveillance picture of the suspect’s distinctive getaway vehicle: a brown or gold Chevy Blazer, older 2000’s model.
“I hope they catch her soon. That’s scary,” Dains said.
There was not much more to go on beyond the surveillance picture in terms of a suspect description: a white woman, heavy set, in a pink hoodie, with a silver handgun, possibly a revolver. If you have any information call Wentzville Police 636-639-2180.
