GRANITE CITY, IL. (KTVI) – Richard Dooley has had a pretty hard life for the past six years, after having been diagnosed with spinal cancer.  He might have give n up after four major surgeries had it not been for his family and friends.

But sometimes, life can take a turn, and that’s what happened this week to Richard. He hit the Illinois Rockin’ Bingo instant ticket for $500,000.

The 41-year-old now has something to cheer about. He’s planning to renovate his home to better accommodate his wheelchair, put away money for his two kids college education and donate some of his winnings to the Sideman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
