ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - The Major Case Squad is investigating the homicide of 53-year-old John D. Fath, who was found dead in his home in the 400 block of North 40th Street Saturday. Neighbors are shaken by the news.

Things almost looked normal on North 40th street in Belleville. Then you notice a police car, shattered glass and the markers for two of the bullet holes that riddled the place.

At about 11pm on Saturday night someone started shooting at the back door of the home. Detectives say their person of interest in the case is someone who knew one of the persons inside the house. The end result was gunfire and death on a quiet street on Belleville's east side where neighbors still know each other's names.

Monday afternoon the Major Case Squad arrested Dashon T. Hinkle for the homicide of John Fath.  Police say, Hinkle knew the victims son, and through search warrants, evidence recovered lead to the arrest of Hinkle.

Hinkle has been charged with one count of First Degree Murder and is currently being held at the St. Clair County Jail on a $2,000,000 bond.
