Blues End Losing Streak, Slam Islanders 5-1

The Blues ended their two game losing streak with a convincing 5-1 win over the New York Islanders on Thursday night at Scottrade Center. Jay Bouwmeester scored on the power play to give the Blues a 1-0 first period lead. After the Islanders tied the game at one in the second period, the Blues scored two more power play goals from Derek Roy and David Backes to take a 3-1 lead. Magnus Paajarvi scored later in the second period to give the Blues a 4-1 lead. Brenden Morrow’s third period goal closed the scoring at 5-1.

Jaroslav Halak stopped 22 of 23 shots to get the win in goal for the Blues. St. Louis hosts the Anaheim Ducks this coming Saturday at 7:00 PM.
