PAGEDALE, MO (KTVI) – Metrolink service has resumed at the St. Charles Rock Road station after a car was hit by a train.

The accident was reported around 8 a.m. at the station at 7019 St. Charles Rock Road.  Metro officials say the Metrolink Red Line train was heading west when the driver of a car hit his breaks, slid across North Market and broke through the guardrails.

The car almost cleared the tracks, but the back part of the car got stuck.  The oncoming train could not stop and clipped the back of the car.

Officials are not sure if anyone in the car was injured. A few Metrolink passengers did report minor injuries.

Passengers were shuttled by bus between UMSL south and St. Charles Rock Road stations.

The car was removed and service resumed about an hour later.
