Former Madison County treasurer gets 30 months for tax crimes

MADISON COUNTY, IL (KTVI)– The former treasurer of Madison County received 30 months in prison for tax crimes.

Fred Bathon admitted to lining the pockets of campaign contributors with inflated fees.

The money came from the sale of seized property.

There are thousands of victims.

Bathon was also ordered to pay a $20,000 fine.

Bathon will also have two years of supervision after his jail time.
