(KTVI) - How much lotion are you going through in your house? Now that the cold weather has set in, your skin needs extra care from the inside and out.

Dermatologist Dr. Madhavi Kandula explains how you can care for your skin in the winter.

Tips from Dr. Kandula:

1. Drink plenty of water - it's important to start by hydrating from within.
2. Check the labels of moisturizers and look for things with petrolatum (petroleum jelly), glycerin, and Lanolin -- anything that can keep you hydrated.
3. Use humidifiers inside your home to keep in the moisture.
