The mother of a murdered Illinois girl, Willow long, now faces charges related to the investigation.

Ciara Deryke is charged with obstructing a peace officer.

Prosecutors say Deryke told investigators she had observed and interacted with her daughter on the morning of September 8th when in fact she had not.

Prosecutors say the girl was already dead by that morning, but they stress they do not believe Ciara Deryke had anything to do with her daughter’s death nor do they believe she knew her daughter had been murdered at the time she made the statement.

Deryke’s brother, Justin Deryke, is facing murder charges in the case.
