Family escapes house fire in north St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- Three people are safe after escaping a house fire in north St. Louis.

The two story home on Bircher caught fire around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

 The home did have working smoke detectors.

 The family dog also escaped the fire, but is now missing.

 The Red Cross is assisting the family.

 The homeowner has lived in the home for more than 50 years and is very distraught.

 The family says the home recently underwent renovations.

 The cause of the fire is under investigation.
