FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, IL. (KTVI) –  Fairview Heights Police say a woman and her 7-year-old son were held up at gunpoint and carjacked by three teens Tuesday night.

It happened outside a Dollar General store in the on Lincoln Trail in Fairview Heights. Police say the teens pulled out weapons and demanded money from the woman.

The mother complied and the teens took her car.

A Fairview Heights police officer on patrol spotted the car on St. Clair Avenue at Highway 157 and attempted to stop the vehicle. The suspects fled, but lost control of the car and slid into a ditch in Washington Park.

All three suspects ran from the scene, but were arrested a short time later. Police say all three teens had “airsoft guns,” which look like real guns.

The suspects, two age 15, and a 13-year-old are now being held in the St. Clair County Juvenile Detention Center.

One of the suspects was on home confinement from an earlier robbery committed on October 11, 2013 at Moody Park.

No better example of why the the age for adult prosecution should go to 15 years old. Kids are growing up in communities with no moral leadership or any other influences of civilization. Can’t expect them to be other than completely feral and vicious. Time to deal with it.
