PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) — Portland’s police chief took a sick dog to an animal hospital Monday night after the dog ate too many pot brownies.

Chief Mike Reese posted a photo of the dog on Twitter.

“Transporting a very sick dog to Dove Lewis. According to the owner she had too many marijuana brownies,” Reese wrote.

Portland police spokesman Sgt. Pete Simpson said the dog’s owner is a transient. The dog, the owner and his shopping cart were all given a ride to Dove Lewis Animal Hospital in Northwest Portland, where veterinarians said the dog was treated and released.

A vet at Dove Lewis told The Oregonian the animal hospital sees pot-brownie-eating pets “pretty consistently.”

Simpson said no arrests were made and no citations were issued.

Though Reese is the police chief of Oregon’s largest city, he regularly helps out on patrol with officers and tweets the incidents when he responds.
