(KTVI)– Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson has been suspended indefinitely by A&E after a series of comments he made in a recent GQ interview.

Robertson told GQ Magazine that sinful behavior can start with homosexuality and morph into things like bestiality.

His family released this statement on their website:

We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support.  The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E’s decision.  We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word.  While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Phil would never incite or encourage hate. We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm.  We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty.   Again, thank you for your continued support of our family.

Phil Robertson has the right to say whatever he wants. A&E has the right to decide what they air.

The Dixie Chicks were allowed to say they thought Bush’s war was stupid. Their record label and hundreds of radio stations had the right to no longer sell/air their music.

Freedom of speech/expression goes both ways, folks. One can say whatever he wants; another can respond in kind.

Well said. A lot of people (including the Robertsons in their statement) keep bringing up the Constitution. Phil was not censored, his right to free speech was not infringed. He has the right to express his opinion and he did freely. A&E also has the right to suspend him for it, they are his employer and they have every right to determine if he is an acceptable representative of their company. The free market will determine the outcome of this, nothing else.

      BTW I stand with Phil

Mr. Robertson came from nothing, And built his empire on hard work and innovation, Using both, brain and back.
He is a Christian man, and believe it or not, he has used the teachings of
the Bible to build his business and guide his children.
Just because the atheist group of the sad liberal rainbow deviants try to sell their lifestyle to the masses, Doesn’t mean we are all buying the garbage.
If the actions of the GLBT group was ‘NORMAL”, then mankind would cease to exist.
So he believes if a man finds another man’s butt as a place for fun, he thinks it’s some sort of abomination to God, because that is what God says.

What ever happened to family values? Some of you may make fun of the “Redneck family” that is portrayed in this program. Phil has the right to speak his mind, just like everyone else. Faith that is given in the bible is what he is believes in. I suport what he has said. This program just shows a bunch of guys with their redneck family, I see it as showing what everyone should have, Family involvement. That is what is wrong with this country now days.Everyone seams to not care about family values and their religion. Shame on everyone who protest the words he has spoken.

I love the Duck Dynasty program & find it so unfair that a person can’t speak their mind. I just guess that some people are so closed minded & don’t know about Jesus. Jesus is the reason for the Season.
