Alexander Steen signed his new three year contract extension with the Blues on Thursday morning, then went out that night and scored two goals in the Blues 5-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens at Scottrade Center.

Steen scored the game's first two goals as the Blues built a 3-0 lead. The two goals give Steen 24 on the season, matching his career high for goals in one season. The Blues have only played 34 of their 82 games this season.

Chris Stewart, Jaden Schwartz and Maxim LaPierre scored the other Blues goals. Jaroslav Halak beat his former team for the fourth straight time stopping 25 of 26 shots.

Here's Steen earlier in the day commenting on his new three year contract to stay with the Blues.
