(KTVI) – Police say they now know who killed man just days before Christmas.  The Madison County State’s Attorney filed murder charges against Deneshion M. Swope on Monday.

Swope, 24, is accused of shooting Jarrett D. Mosby, 21, seven times on December 23.   Police found Mosby’s body inside a car at 2nd and Bissell in Madison around 12:44 p.m. that same day.

Investigators believe Mosby died in a drug deal gone bad. Officials say the two arranged to meet in Madison with Swope wanting to buy marijuana from Mosby.   Police believe the two got into an argument and Swope shot Mosby several times.

Swope, who was on federal probation, is currently being held in the St. Clair County Jail. He is now charged with three counts of First Degree Murder.
