(KTVI) - A new year means more security cameras for the St. Charles historic district. City officials say the cameras are more of a preventative measure for the weekend crowds packing the streets for art fairs and festivals.

Last year, St. Charles spent $12,000 on seven cameras, and this year officials plan on having them all the way down Main Street.

Some business owners like the added security, but others say the area is quiet and not a high crime area, so why spend the money?
