ALORTON, IL (KTVI)– A former Alorton and Fairmont City police officer will spend two years in prison for wire fraud and tax evasion.

Harry Halter, Jr. who is also known as “Dink” pleaded guilty in September to wire fraud and tax evasion.

Prosecutors say Halter got nearly $25,000 in tax increment financing to build a fence around a towing company he owned in Alorton.

They also say he avoided paying taxes on at least $128,000.
