ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- Two people are in custody after the death of a toddler was ruled a homicide.

Officers were called to the 5600 block of Kingsbury Thursday morning for a report of a sick child.  Three-year-old Dashon Haskin was not breathing and was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy was conducted on Haskin, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide with the cause of death being blunt force trauma.

A 25-year old male and a 22-year old female are in police custody. Warrants will be sought Saturday morning.

No matter who is ultimately responsible for young Dashon’s death, Crisis Nursery CEO DiAnne Mueller says there are plenty of resources available for adults overwhelmed with young children.  In this case, it’s too late to help this three year-old, which is why their efforts will tirelessly continue.

“All kids should get to grow up and be happy and healthy, and we don’t want to have any more stories like this,” she says, “so we won’t stop, we just really want to do everything we can.”

If you’d like to contact the Crisis Nursery, you can call their 24-hour hotline at 314-768-3201.
