(KTVI)- The economic good news? Unemployment is down in the St. Louis region. The bad news? It’s down because 40,000 people dropped out of the labor market. They've either moved away or just given up looking for work.
Meanwhile in D.C., extended unemployment benefits for the long-term unemployed have stopped because many Republicans in Congress think the extra benefits keep the long-term unemployed from looking for work. Are they right? And what do these jobless numbers mean for our area?
