The state of the jobs in St. Louis

(KTVI)- The economic good news? Unemployment is down in the St. Louis region. The bad news?  It’s down because 40,000 people dropped out of the labor market. They've either moved away or just given up looking for work.

Meanwhile in D.C., extended unemployment benefits for the long-term unemployed have stopped because many Republicans in Congress think the extra benefits keep the long-term unemployed from looking for work. Are they right? And what do these jobless numbers mean for our area?  Charles Haci talks it over with Dr. Benjamin Akande, the Dean of the George Herbert Walker School of Business and Technology at Webster University.

99 weeks of unemployment compensation is LUDICROUS ! It is time for it to end and to force people back into work whether they like it or not. The unemployment numbers keep going down because 92 MILLION able bodied Americans have given up and are no longer looking for work. If you put those people back in the workforce unemployment calculations where they belong the true unemployment rate in America is actually 50%. ONE HALF of America is NOT working but obama’s mindless minions of the media will not EVER tell you the straight FACTS and you already know obama will NEVER tell you the truth. You also know there is no democrat that will ever tell you the truth either ! If you don’t like being unemployed, get rid of a democrat. If you don’t like going back to work for half of what you were making, get rid of a democrat. If you don’t like the benefits offered with your employment, get rid of a democrat. If you can’t survive on minimum wage then get an education or get some training. Your skills, your abilities and your work ethic will determine your rate of pay and those are all up to YOU ! They are YOUR RESPONSIBILITY ! Get off your A$$ and make yourself worth something to somebody !

The fact of the matter is that I have a MASTER’S degree & have to work for about $11 per hour in a field that I didn’t even go to school for. The companies in this area don’t even want to look at you unless you have 3-5 years of experience or if you “know someone”. I’ll admit that I am looking in other areas for work because the rich a-holes that run these companies don’t want to give anyone a fair chance.
