(KTVI) – St. Louis County police are trying to cut down on copper crime.  And they’re offering you a tool to protect your property.

St. Louis County police are rolling out a copper-metal marking system where copper pipes, furnaces, and A-C units would be marked with the owners’ address.  The marking system is invisible and can only be seen under special lighting.

The system can also be used on bicycles, golf clubs and electronics.  The marker will be available at the North County precinct on Benham Road.  When more equipment becomes available, the program will expand throughout the county.
