(CNN) — Ukraine’s Prime Minister Mykola Azarov submitted his resignation Tuesday in a bid to ease the political crisis rocking his country, according to a statement posted on his website. “In order to create additional possibilities for the political compromise and peaceful resolution of the conflict, I made a personal decision to ask the President to accept my resignation from the Prime Minister’s office,” the statement said. There is no word yet on whether President Viktor Yanukovych has accepted Azarov’s resignation.
