Labor unions say Gov. Quinn’s pension fix is unconstitutional

SPRINGFIELD, IL (KTVI) – Several of Illinois’ most powerful unions say that the governor’s pension fix could be unconstitutional. A group representing union members filed a suit challenging Gov. Quinn’s plan.

The suit claims the new law that reduces yearly benefit increases, violates the constitution, which says pension benefits shall not be diminished or impaired.
