The Carolina Hurricanes played ungracious hosts beating the Blues 3-1 on Friday night in Raliegh, North Carolina. The Canes opened the scoring on Nathan Gerbe’s power play goal. Blues captain David Backes tied the game with a power play goal of his own. It was Backes’ 150th career goal. Carolina broke the 1-1 tie on Jeff Skinner’s goal right off a faceoff. The Blues Jay Bouwmeester knocked a shot off the goal post that would have tied the game in the third period. It was just that kind of night for St. Louis. The Hurricanes Alexander Semin finished the scoring with an empty net goal.

The Blues are right back in action on Saturday night, hosting the Nashville Predators at 7:00 PM at Scottrade Center.
