“Black Barbie” sentenced to a decade for forcing women into prostitution

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – A woman has been sentenced to a decade in prison for forcing other women into prostitution. One of the women involved was mentally disabled.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Carla “Black Barbie” Mathews, 27, plead guilty to a charge of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion. Her brother Carl Mathews, 33, was also involved.

Prosecutors say she would take away the victim’s food stamps before meeting clients in an effort to control the women. They also say she arranged and drove them to encounters, supplied them with drugs like Ecstasy and clothing.
