City of East St. Louis to offer reward for information in murder

EAST ST. LOUIS, IL (KTVI) – The City of East St. Louis is holding a press conference Monday afternoon to announce a reward for information in a murder that occurred this weekend. Derundrae Smith, 19, was found dead at around 2:30pm on Saturday afternoon near 71st street. He died of a gunshot wound. This marks the first homicide this year for the city of East St. Louis.

A statement from the the Office of the Mayor reads, “Ultimately, the city of East St. Louis will do whatever is deems necessary to bring about an environment that is as healthy and as safe as it can be.”

The City of East St. Louis and the 40 days of Non-Violence Committee are announcing a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those individuals involved in the homicide.

    Yeah that’s right, put up a reward & the party that turns in the criminal will be able to support their drug habit or make up for what they don’t receive in welfare.
