(CNN) — A high-profile trial is set to begin in Florida on Monday involving a man who fatally shot a 17-year-old African-American teenager.

The man claimed he shot in self defense. But authorities found no guns in the car the teen was riding in.

The case is garnering international attention not just because of the similarities to the case of Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman, but also because the prosecutor in the case is the same: State Attorney Angela Corey.

Michael Dunn shot and killed Jordan Davis, 17, in November 2012.

Dunn told police that he asked Davis and three other teens, who were parked next to him at a Jacksonville gas station, to turn down their music. Dunn said he heard threats from the teens and saw a gun in their car.

He said he feared for his safety, and that’s why he grabbed his gun and fired into the vehicle.

Police say that they found no guns inside the teens’ vehicle and that Dunn fired his gun eight or nine times.

Dunn has been charged with first-degree murder in Davis’ death and also faces three counts of attempted first-degree murder for shooting at the three others in the vehicle. He has pleaded not guilty.

Dunn’s attorney, Robin Lemonidis, has told CNN that her client was reacting to what he said was a gun being drawn.

“When all the evidence has been flushed out, I believe that it will be extremely clear that Mr. Dunn acted as any responsible firearm owner would have under the same circumstances,” Lemonidis said.

You’re showing your vast intellect there, clown – you’re trying to be sarcastic but you are correct about one thing: being a loon and making it pretty obvious. Ought to spend some time “learnin” something, like how to write properly.

“When all the evidence has been flushed out, I believe that it will be extremely clear that Mr. Dunn acted as any responsible firearm owner would have under the same circumstances,”

Ummm,,NO.. THIS responsible, gun owning citizen with a CCW permit would have backed out of the spot at the gas station and left the potentially hostile environment. If I firmly believed they had a gun and were threatening to use it on me, I would have called the police from a safe distance.

“…acted as any responsible firearm owner…” Are there any? Personally, I think wanting to carry a firearm is a bit irresponsible to begin with – indicates the person is looking for trouble, because that what MOST of them are doing.

But I’m sure there are a few responsible firearm owners with CCWs (I’ve known a few and may become one myself), and a responsible owner would not have shot 8 times with no provocation.

But this is Florida again? Man, they got some out of control violent rednecks there. Time to put them, and this guy, in their place.

If justice prevails, this redneck COWARD – so afraid of the black man playing loud music – will go to prison for LIFE. If he does, maybe I’ll send him a message telling him how much we are CELEBRATING that this pathetic redneck hick is in prison for life where he can be a REAL MAN without his gun!

Any responsible person would have just let the loud music slide and move on. So this redneck hick was OBVIOUSLY looking for trouble by saying anything to them – just wasn’t his business. So was that former cop at the show, and so was Zimmerman – looking for trouble. Time these kinda folks get some trouble shoved in their face, for a change.

The problem is selfish attitudes & ARROGANCE by OBNOXIOUS, selfish punks…. not by the shooter
When I was 18-20 y/o (32+ years ago), I cranked LOUD music in my car because i
loved music! (I went on to become a member in a successful band.)
Nowadays, MOST kids play their loud “noise” with a LOUD BASS ONLY so
can cruise with attitude and draw attention to themselves:
“LOOK AT ME!! LOOK AT ME!!, I’m so
cool & badass. I have an expensive stereo that plays obnoxious LOUD
I see these youngsters with the noise shaking everything
around them & they are not the least bit interested in what they are listening to. They don’t even bob their heads enjoying the “noise”? The loud
noise is ONLY to try to impress their peers (selfish attitudes & ARROGANCE).
I would rally beside this man because he did the ‘right thing” by removing another selfish, OBNOXIOUS noise maker off the streets!!!
    That’s the FACT!
