16 dogs and cats rescued from Warren County property

NEAR WRIGHT CITY, MO (KTVI) – The Humane Society of Missouri Animal Cruelty Task Force rescued 16 dogs and cats from a home outside Wright City in Warren County Wednesday morning. The rescue was in response to a call from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, who were called to a home for a check on the well being of the property owner.

The owner was found deceased, deputies found 13 dog’s and3 cats living in outside enclosures with no food, water or heat. Due to the extreme weather, the Humane Society got a warrant to retrieve the animals, and transported them St. Louis for evaluation and possible adoption, once ownerships of the animals is settled.

A hearing is scheduled for ownership on February 24th in Warren, Missouri.

    It’s hard to be critical of somebody for not taking care of their animals when they’re dead, so let this just be a shout out to the great work done every day by the people who care at the Humane Society and their Cruelty Task Force. Kudos to you folks for being there!
