More than a dozen pets rescued after owner found dead

WRIGHT CITY, MO (KTVI) - More than a dozen pets are rescued near Wright City after their owner is discovered dead.

68-year-old Carol Rakonick died of exposure. Police believe she may have fallen while returning from a shopping trip.

The Animal Cruelty Task Force pulled 13 dogs and three cats from the property. They were living outside in unheated shelters with no access to food or water. They're now being treated at the Humane Society in west St. Louis.
