LAWRENCE, KS (KTVI) – Check out this bright glow in the sky next to the sun on Wednesday. It looked like the sun had a halo.
This is called a "Sun Dog". ice crystals in the upper atmosphere refract, or bend, light. Sometimes, you see a halo. Sometimes, it looks like there are two suns.
This is common in the arctic and kind of appropriate, since it feels like the Arctic in parts of the Midwest this winter.
