SPRINGFIELD, MO (KTVI) –  The man accused of kidnapping and murdering 10-year-old Hailey Owens was scheduled to make his first court appearance Thursday in Springfield, MO, but now that’s been changed to Friday, according to published reports.

Craig Wood, 45, faces first degree murder and kidnapping charges.  The middle school football coach and assistant teacher allegedly pulled Hailey into his pickup truck Tuesday evening after asking her for directions.

Prosecutors say Wood tied her up, shot her, put her body into a plastic storage bin and then tried to clean up the murder scene with bleach.

When police pulled up to his house where Hailey’s body was found, he allegedly had duct tape in his hand.
