ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Awards were given on Tuesday for the men and women patrolling the St. Louis Police Department’s 2nd District.

The Second District Business Association holds a luncheon each year to honor the police officers who go above and beyond the call of duty. Officer Wendell Ishmon received the award for the 2013 officer of the year. Ishmon has been on the force for 18 years and has only missed one day of work.

Other officers were recognized for doing everything from catching copper and credit card thieves to helping free an elderly woman who had been tied up in a robbery.

I was honored to be the mistress of ceremonies again this year.
