Columbia firefighter to be laid to rest Thursday

(KTVI) – A Columbia, Missouri firefighter killed in a weekend walkway collapse will be laid to rest on Thursday.

Lieutenant Bruce Britt was evacuating students from the University Village Apartments on Saturday when the walkway gave way, trapping him under rubble.

A funeral for Britt will take place at The Crossing Church in Columbia at 10 a.m. Thursday.  The U.S. Honor Flag that has been traveling the country since 2007 will come to Missouri Wednesday.

It will be featured at Britt’s funeral.
