ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Area school districts and police departments will gather Wednesday in a workshop on school safety.

The group behind “Child Safety Day” invited more than two dozen districts and police departments. Organizers will offer an “active shooter” refresher course, and security professionals will talk about threat assessments.

They also plan to discuss the January 16, 2014 lockdown of Kirkwood High School after a security scare involving an employee from KSDK-TV doing a story on school security.

The workshop is not open to the public.
