2 children die in Jefferson County accident Saturday

JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirms two children died in an accident in Jefferson County Saturday.

Two cars were involved in the accident around 5:30pm at the intersection of Frontier and State Roads.

An 11-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the sceneand a 4-year-old girl died at a hospital. She had been evacuated by helicopter. Both children had been buckled in. They were riding in a 2004 Chevy Cavalier being driven by a 30-year-old woman. She suffered serious injuries.

The other vehicle was a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck with two people inside. Steven Galvin, 52, was driving and suffered minor injuries. Cynthia Galvin, 53, was the passenger and suffered moderate injuries. Both were wearing their seat belts.

The Highway Patrol says the Cavalier was traveling eastbound and the pickup was traveling westbound. The Cavalier turned left in front of the pickup and was hit.
