Cardinals sign Carpenter through 2019

JUPITER, FL (KTVI) – The St. Louis Cardinals have signed Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter through 2019. The pact calls for a option year in 2020, with a contract worth $52 million.

Carpenter  was the team’s  second baseman and lead-off hit for last season, batting .318 batting leading the majors with runs scored (126), hits (199), doubles (55) and multi-hit games (63).
