KIRKWOOD, MO (KTVI)-- The public got a chance to meet the candidates running for Kirkwood City Council.

Among those running is Jayson Thorton. He is the nephew of Cookie Thorton, the gunman in the deadly Kirkwood council shooting.

Thorton says his family wants their name to be known for community service and not tragedy.

Other candidates include Paul Ward, Tim Griffin and Bob Sears.

The top three vote getters will be seated on the board.
