COLUMBIA, MO (KTVI) – Police in Columbia confirm four Mizzou athletes were arrested on a misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession Saturday night.

Police pulled over Shaun Rupert on East Broadway near downtown Columbia. The police report states there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The officer found a Swisher Sweet Cigarillo package inside the car. A field test was positive for marijuana.

Rupert and Penton Maxey, both football players, and Shane Rector and Wesley Clark, both basketball players, were arrested on the misdemeanor charge of possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana.

All were released on a signature summons.

Men’s basketball coach Frank Haith has suspended Clark and Rector. It’s not known if they’ll play against Davidson Tuesday in the NIT.
