ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – St. Louis police says someone pointed a gun at an officer, so that officer opened fire.  This all started in north St. Louis and ended with the suspect in an ambulance.

This happened just after 9:00pm Thursday on Sacramento and Fair, close to Fairground Park. A woman walking through the park called police and reported seeing four suspicious men.

After officers got to the park, one of the men ran on foot.

Lt. John Green explained, “The officer saw him reaching for his waistband. The officer drew his weapon, told him to stop. He was pulling out a gun. Fearing for his safety, and to protect others in the area, he fired his gun.”

The officer hit the suspect in the leg. Medics took him to the hospital in stable condition.

Police found a gun at the scene.

Police arrested the other three men seen in the park quickly.

No officers were injured.
