This is SO badly needed, thank you for letting the community know. Maybe Fox2 can air a mini segment for those who can’t make it to the classes? Every little bit helps :)

On Thursday, March 20, Main Street Elementary held a self-defense class for the school in honor of Hailey Owens. The idea started when Houston Hilger, a kindergartner at Main Street Elementary, spoke with Mr. Steen, owner of Steen’s ATA Black Belt Academy in Troy, and his Assistance Principal, Mr. Clark, about how he wanted to keep his friends safe. Hilger took Hailey Owens’ story and brought a great self-defense class to his school to help his classmates understand that they can fight back against kidnappers. Approximately 200 students were present for the after school demonstration. There have been several close calls in Missouri, just in the last month and children can never be too prepared. Pictured above, Mr. Steen and Houston Hilger show a classmate the proper way to “hammer down” your attacker. For more pictures and a video of this event visit http://www.Lincoln CountyJournal.com and watch the video of the week.
