(KTVI)-Not so many years ago, symphony orchestra musicians were predominantly male. Since auditions started being held from behind screens, the number of women has rocketed. Currently 45 out of 96 musicians in the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra are women.

Sarah Bryan Miller, St. Louis Post-Dispatch classical music critic, looks at the reasons why more women are making the cut and at the wider story in the industry. You’ll find her article in Sunday’s A&E section of the paper.
