2 Alton men charged with theft from a Walmart

EDWARDSVILLE, IL (KTVI) – On Friday, March 28th at 6 pm, a Madison County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the Walmart on Godfrey Road, in Godfrey, IL for a complaint of theft of store property.

An employee of the store told the deputy that a male customer had stolen $600 of merchandise from the store, using a cart to push the items to car parked on the store’s parking lot. The driver of the car got out of the car and assisted the other suspect loading the items into the car, driving off on Godfrey Road.

The deputy later located the car on Godfrey Road, near Stamper Lane, stopping and arresting 35-year-old Ryan T. Markle and 30-year-old Scotty Hutchens. Both men were booked into the Madison County Jail. Bond for both men has been set at $40,000 each.
