ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – St Louis County Police allege a woman from Jackson Missouri used her 10-year-old son to help steal a purse from a car on a Walgreens parking lot. Inside the purse were two bottles of prescription painkillers.

Prosecutors have charged 37-year-old Beth Underwood with stealing a controlled substance. Court documents indicate police arrested Underwood after an officer witnessed her 10-year-old son steal a purse from inside a car parked at the Walgreen in the one-thousand block of Bowles Avenue. Inside the purse were two prescription pill bottles containing hydrocodone. After witnessing the boy run from the victim’s car, he noticed the child jumped into another vehicle with expired Missouri license plates. He pulled the car over and questioned the driver, Underwood. She told the officer her child stole the purse. The pill bottles had already been emptied and the drugs were found in the center console of Underwood’s car.

She’s facing one count of stealing a controlled substance, which is a felony.
