CHESTERFIELD, MO (KTVI) - Traffic tie-ups continue this weekend in Chesterfield.  Late Friday, MoDOT  closed the interstate at Chesterfield Parkway West and at Chesterfield Airport Road for demolition work. Crews have been working to tear down the Chesterfield Parkway West bridge and the old Chesterfield Airport Road bridge over the interstate.

As of Sunday morning, MoDOT has reopened all lanes of I-64 at Chesterfield Airport Road.  However, all lanes in both directions of I-64 remain closed at Chesterfield Parkway West as crews remove the bridge over the interstate.  Those lanes are scheduled to reopen by 5:00am Monday.

MoDOT urges drivers to avoid I-64 in this area. Use I-70 or the Page Avenue extension as alternate routes between St. Louis County and St. Charles County. There will be detours in place around the closures to still give drivers access to Boone's Crossing and the outlet malls in the valley, but people should expect significant delays. Allow extra time to get to your destination.

Detours for the Chesterfield Parkway West bridge closure are:
• Eastbound I-64 – use Exit 19A (Chesterfield Parkway) and take a left onto Wild Horse Creek Road. Follow the road and take the ramp back onto eastbound I-64.

• Westbound I-64 – Use Exit 19A (Chesterfield Parkway West) and bear to the right. At Chesterfield Parkway, take the ramp back down to westbound I-64.

Greg, If you have a better idea, I’m sure MODOT would like to hear it. Or would you rather sit around a cry about it?

Greg is right. their was no plans either by MoDot or of by city Chesterfield as Traffic is backed up on all side streets, back ways, If you don’t believe it just go to Baxter & Wildhorse creek rd section and see from your own eyes. We understand closure & demolition but why they don’t have officers or some one else man the traffic or traffic lights. For e.g.; they should have changed the lights setting to allow more traffic to pass thru Baxter rd vs kept the same old setting for 4 cars instead 20+ cars to pass in a minute…. Basically they don’t have a plan or don’t care..
