KIRKWOOD, MO (KTVI) – Randi Naughton recently bought a pair of sneakers for walking, running, and working out. They felt great in the store, but after just 15 minutes on the elliptical machine, her toes went numb and her arch started to ache. What was wrong?

She sat down with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Richard Lehman, from the US Center for Sports Medicine in Kirkwood, to talk about this issue. The first he asked – are those shoes too tight? Randi needs a wide shoe, and these were not wides.
